The English Department within Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Chapman University seeks a non-tenure track Assistant / Associate Professor of the Practice of Journalism, beginning August 2019.

• M.A.or M.S.J. preferred but will accept a B.A. with significant professional experience.
• 5-10 years professional journalism experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of packaging content for print, web, and social media. We are specifically looking for experience with WordPress publishing, social media strategies, writing photo captions and hashtags, producing Instagram stories, copyright and image attribution, basic photography (still and video), basic editing, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Finalcut Pro or Adobe Premier or equivalent, and Google analytics.
• College/University teaching experience and/or experience supervising and editing reporters in the newsroom.
Teaching upper-division and introductory level workshop courses in practical aspects of reporting, writing, and editing. Courses include: Beginning and Advanced Digital Design for Journalists, Digital Reporting Workshop for Journalists, Digital Editing Workshop for Journalists, and Digital Magazine Workshop for Journalists.
The successful applicant will also supervise student internships.
