Students in the EMAC program take "core" courses in two departments, Department of the Arts and Department of Communication and Media. These courses introduce them to communication theory, visual communication, digital imaging, digital filmmaking, music and sound design, writing, and art history, music history, or media theory. This curriculum forms the interdisciplinary foundation for specific concentrations in the following areas: Digital Storytelling, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Marketing Communication and Design, Multisensory Data Design, Sound Design and Popular Culture. These six concentrations are described below. Digital Storytelling Students learn to use narrative theory, computer graphics, animation, and video technology to develop innovative concepts in storytelling for education, community building, interactive art, entertainment, and business.
