MS in Healthcare Management - Informatics

With the breaches in data security affecting healthcare institutions frequently in the headlines today, understanding security in information systems has become ever more important for today’s healthcare informatics manager1. Most healthcare organizations today rely on a system that provides confidentiality and security of patient records. Colorado Technical University’s Master of Science in Healthcare Management – Informatics Concentration is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop skills in information systems, informatics, and information technology that will help them to prepare for careers in healthcare or related institutions. With courses taught by experienced faculty in the Computer Science and Information Technology programs, students have the opportunity to learn industry relevant instruction in key areas of information technology and system security. The MSHCM-Informatics program aims to provide the tools and knowledge needed to help new leaders in the field of health informatics or enhance the skills of those already in health informatics positions. Courses address the use of technology to manage medical records, enhance the quality of health record management systems, and ensure electronic records compliance to regulatory and ethical standards. This program provides an emphasis on developing the competencies needed by healthcare management professionals in the area of healthcare informatics.
