Ethnic Heritage

There are many scholarships available for students coming from a family heritage that is Hispanic/Latino-Latina, African-American, and Native American. Each scholarship has specific qualification requirements, so check carefully! The due dates of these scholarships can start as early as the fall of your senior year of high school.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR AFRICAN-AMERICAN STUDENTS

The Generation Google Scholarship 
Who: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a student from a underrepresented group in computer science. 
Amount: $10,000 
Due: 3/2/2018

United Negro College Fund 
Who: African-American high school students 
Amount: Varies by program

The Ron Brown Scholar Program 
Who: U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are African-American high school seniors; not limited to any specific field or career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline. 
Amount: $10,000 for one year; renewable for four years.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NATIVE AMERICAN STUDENTS 

Some of these scholarships require registration with a certain tribe. If you’re not registered but believe you might be eligible, look into the registration process here.

The Generation Google Scholarship 
Who: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a student from a underrepresented group in computer science. 
Amount: $10,000 
Due: Fall (Dec. 1)

American Indian College Fund 
This is a fund established for students who can provide proof of enrollment in a recognized tribe. Applications are available from January 1 to May 31 for scholarships for the next academic year. Use the link to create a profile and view scholarship opportunities.

National Indian Education Association Scholarships 
 NIEA provides Native American students with a list of scholarships, deadlines, and eligibility criteria.

Cherokee Nation Foundation Scholarships 
These scholarships are for students who can provide proof of registration with the Cherokee Nation. Students complete one form, available on the Cherokee Nation website, to apply for all Cherokee Nation scholarships. 
Due: Spring

Chickasaw Nation Higher Education Grants and Scholarships 
 The Chickasaw Nation provides scholarships for students who can provide proof of registration with the Chickasaw Nation. Students should complete this form to apply for scholarships for which they qualify.

Muscogee (Creek) Nation Higher Education Scholarship Foundation Program 
These scholarships are for students who can provide proof of registration with the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. Each scholarship listing maintained on the Muscogee (Creek) website has individual requirements and deadlines, so check carefully!

Osage Nation Higher Education Scholarships  
The Osage Nation provides undergraduate scholarships for students who can provide proof of registration with the Osage Nation. Use the link above to view the qualifications for each scholarship. 

Seminole Nation Higher Education Scholarship 
The Seminole Nation provides undergraduate scholarships for students who can provide proof of registration with the Seminole Nation. Students will complete one application form to apply for all Seminole Nation funds for which they qualify.

League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) National Scholarship Fund 
Who: Hispanic/Latino-Latina students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in accredited academic institutions within the US 
Amount: $250‐$2000

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ASIAN & ASIAN-AMERICAN STUDENTS

Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship
Who: Students with an Asian or Pacific Islander heritage who are willing to fill out the form. 
Amount: $2,500 
Due: Spring

 

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MINORITIES

Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship 
Who: Minority high school students with an ACT of 22 or above who are attending accredited 4-year universities. 
Amount: $7,000 for one year; renewable for four years. 
Due: Spring 

A Sustainable Future Through Solar Energy Scholarship
Who: High school students who have at least one parent or grandparent who is an immigrant.
Amount: $2,000
Due: 2/15/2018
