Financial aid, other funding
The university is committed to helping you secure financial support for every opportunity of interest or value to you.
Admission is highly competitive. Due to intense demand for these programs, if accepted you must either declare your intent to participate and make a $750 non-refundable program deposit within 10 days of acceptance or we may release your place to another applicant. Upon declaring your intent to participate and completing registration requirements your spot in the program will be secured. Formal enrollment in Sage will take place in late April. Tuition bills for the summer JBS semester are issued in May, with payment due before the program begins.
Tuition and Financial Aid
JBS tuition for summer 2018 is $13,260.
As outside scholarships are generally applied in full to academic year tuition, so it may be necessary to identify other sources of financing for your JBS tuition. Limited financial aid is available and JBS scholarship awards are made based on demonstrated need. The number of scholarships are limited but can cover up to 100% of the tuition for a JBS based on your personal/family financial situation. There are no scholarships to cover room and board. To be considered for a need-based JBS Tuition Scholarship, you must complete your application by the Priority Deadline of March 13, 2018. So early application to the JBS program is strongly advised.
After your application is submitted, students should meet with a financial aid counselor at Student Financial Services in Usdan. If you have federal student loan availability, you may use this eligibility toward a summer JBS. You and your parents may also apply for private student and/or parent loans.
When looking at the cost of a JBS, students and parents may want to consider that a summer JBS counts toward the university residency requirement for most students. This means that a student with enough credits could potentially graduate a semester early. Note: Many transfer students will not be able to use a JBS as a semester toward the university residency requirement. As every individual student situation is different, speak with your academic advisor to determine you could use a JBS to graduate early.
The monthly tuition payment plan is not available for the JBS summer program, due to the limited duration of the program. Similarly, Reduced Senior Status does not apply to the summer program; however, students whose petitions are approved can enroll at the reduced rate in a future semester.
Optional On-Campus Housing and Dining
Students are NOT required to live on campus to participate in a JBS. If you choose to live on-campus during the summer, you will have two options:
- Charles River Residence Hall - no meal plan required.
- Ziv Residence Hall - those students electing to live in Ziv will be required to take a 15-meals per week meal plan - with no weekend meal service available until July.
